Or, ChocoNanaDamia Balls, if you like a bit of wordplay! These little delights are different to a lot of the ‘raw’ treats you might find at cafes — using bananas to sweeten and bind, and macadamias for a nutty depth that can’t be beat! (sidenote: ChocoMacaNana Balls?)
You will need
Makes 20
- 300 grams dried banana
- 1 fresh banana
- 150 grams desiccated coconut, toasted
- 100 grams roasted macadamias
- 100 grams 80% dark chocolate
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
- 1/2 teaspoons salt
- Untoasted desiccated coconut, to coat
Recipe: Simon Toohey
Directions
-
Step 1
Add all of the ingredients, except the untoasted desiccated coconut, to a food processor. Blitz until a dough begins to form. The mixture should hold its shape when you squeeze a handful of it together.
-
Step 2
Roll 1-tablespoon portions into balls, drop into the untoasted desiccated coconut, and roll to coat. Place in the fridge for 1 hour to set — though they will taste delicious straight away anyway!
-
Step 3
Enjoy as a dessert, snack, or even breakfast if you fancy something a bit sweet! These will keep well for about a week, if stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
