If you’re in need of a heartwarming and smile-inducing reminder of the impact your food choices have on others, look no further.

Health and environmental benefits, affordability, variety, colour, flavour … There are so many compelling reasons motivating people to opt for veg food these days, but we’ve rounded up some of the absolute cutest to inspire you to keep going on your plant-based journey.

Read on to meet some truly adorable rescued farm animals who have been lucky enough to get a second chance at life, and are opening people’s hearts and minds to just how powerful choosing kinder, plant-based food can be – one wholesome video at a time.

1. Jovie the diva piglet, who is the perfect amount of pampered at Sleepy Pig Farm. She knows exactly what she deserves – and what she deserves is to pig out.

2. Spurlino the frolicking cow, who was rescued by the folks at Farm Sanctuary. Not only does he have some seriously enviable hoof-eye coordination, he’s also a reminder of just how playful farmed animals can be when given the freedom to express their personalities.

3. This sweet girl basking in her first taste of sunshine, cuddles, and safety after being freed from an egg farm. She has no idea how many wing-stretches, friends, and dust-baths await her at her new home at Happily Heifer After Sanctuary 😌

4. Ted the sheep from Lilly Moss Animal Sanctuary. Need we say more? He’s just so pure. So perfect. A fluffy little cloud of peace and contentment ⛅

5. These rescued pigs, who are living their absolute best lives at Farm Sanctuary – with plenty of space to wallow, chill out with a mud mask, and, our personal favourite, blow bubbles. Truly pig-ture perfect 👌

6. Rocky the (now grown-up!) dairy calf, who has come such a long way since he first arrived at Happily Heifer After Sanctuary. There is something truly special about watching him get to grow up alongside his rescuer/BFF Michelle, and the sweet bond they share 🥰

7. Little Miss Sunshine, a clever hen who loves showing off her counting skills at the animal paradise that is Edgar’s Mission. Chickens are so much more intelligent than most people realise!

8. This little fella, Joey, who is so full of joy that he just can’t contain it. Check out those happy hops and zoomies – he’s practically bouncing off the walls of Farm Animal Refuge, and they love to see it just as much as we do.

9. Gracie the giant grass puppy, who honestly has her priorities 100% right: affection, silliness, and snacks. RELATABLE CONTENT, GRACIE. The team at Farm Animal Refuge are doing a great job of keeping her a-moo-sed.

10. Ted the Piglet! Give you one guess where he got his name 😉 This feisty little guy from Where Pigs Fly Farm Sanctuary is living proof that pigs are just like the teddy-bear-loving dogs that so many of us call our best friends – and are just as worthy of love.

If any of these four-legged, furry, or feathered friends warmed your heart, consider following the animal sanctuaries they call home on Instagram for more of their stories and antics!

Every time we choose to leave animals like them – chickens, pigs, sheep, and cows, but also other farmed animals like goats, turkeys, ducks, fish, and crustaceans – off our plates in favour of nourishing plant-based food, we’re helping to reduce the demand for cruelly-sourced animal products. And ultimately, this is how we can shape a more compassionate world in which all animals are valued as the thinking, feeling individuals they are.

So whatever your motivation for eating veg might be, you can rest assured that not only are your meal choices helping to build a healthier and sustainable world, but a kinder, safer one for animals too.

Meet Liv!

Having grown up in a “meat and 3 veg” kind of household, Liv’s embarrassed to admit that she was a bit of a one-note chef until she began exploring the world of plant-based food. Vegan cooking has given her a whole new appreciation for the symphonies of flavours that simple, nourishing wholefood ingredients can create. (Even eggplant, once her greatest nemesis, is now — in a delicious, miso-glazed redemption arc — her all-time favourite veg.)
