So simple, yet so versatile: bake or pan-fry this marinated tofu to use in a sandwich, toss it through a stir-fry, or skewer alongside some veggies to grill it on the barbecue!

  • 375 g packet firm tofu (a little more or less is fine)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 cm piece fresh ginger, peeled and grated
  • A few drops sesame oil

  1. Step 1

    Slice the tofu thinly, then pop it into an airtight container.

  2. Step 2

    In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, garlic, ginger and sesame oil, then pour over the tofu. Toss the tofu slices to ensure they’re well coated in the sauce mixture, then seal the container and leave the tofu in the fridge to marinate for at least 1 hour, or up to a few days.

  3. Step 3

    The tofu can be cooked in so many ways: stir-fried, pan-fried, barbecued, or baked at 180°C for 15 minutes. Serve hot.

Hot tip!

This soy ginger marinade also works beautifully on tempeh! Try seasoning with a sprinkling of sesame seeds, chilli flakes or chopped spring onions.
